Many people have wondered, and asked, about what is up with the "Free House for the Taking" sign on the property at 9 Monroe St., across from Avidia Bank, on the corner of West Main Street.
According to Town Planner Kathy Joubert, local developer Tony Abu has submitted an application to the Zoning Board of Appeals for a special permit, as well as a site plan review and a special permit per the groundwater bylaw. These permits are to allow Abu to demolish the house and barn and replace them with a commerical building.
Abu returns before the ZBA on June 25 and is working with the Design Review Committee on the design of the new proposed building.
