Dahlias: Three Plants of Awesomeness

What is your summer gardening project? Mine is cultivating three dahlia plants.

My summer gardening project has been the dahlia. I have three dahlia plants and I dote on them.

The original plant was the pink plant in the white pot. After a rough start, this lovely lady is blooming frequently, as you can see from the photos attached. The blooms have gotten darker, but I'm not sure why. I have been feeding the plants with a 4-10-10 fertilizer, perhaps that's why?

My second plant was the multi-colored yellow/pink dahlia I picked up at Home Depot. This poor thing was all bent over and barely blooming. After a first bunch of blooms, the rain has settled in and I've seen some signs of rot near the stems. I fluffed the dirt, fed the plant and she seems to be bouncing back. I hope!

The third dahlia is a puffy yellow variety. This one has fared well, but, like the multi, is not a fan of all this rain. We're down to one bloom and I'm hoping she will recover like the original pink dahlia.
