UPDATED: North Reading Police Investigating Fatal Wreck Friday Morning

One person is dead after a car crashed into a home on Elm Street (Rte. 62), near Judith Drive, early Friday morning.

North Reading Police confirmed just after 7 a.m. that the accident resulted in a fatality, killing the driver.

The accident happened just after 6 a.m. Friday morning and initial reports indicate one person was unconscious inside the vehicle when crews arrived.

Rt. 62 was closed in the area, between the Middleton Town Line and Mid Iron Drive for several hours. The road was reopened in both directions around 9:15 a.m.

The building inspector has been called to the scene, as well the State Police Reconstruction team.

There’s no word yet on what caused the accident. Driving conditions are tough Friday morning with dense fog making for almost zero visibility in the area.
