Detectives Investigating Bones Found on Strawberry Lane

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Wednesday through Sunday. The information is open to the public.

Arrests

At 2:42 a.m., Wednesday, John Furlong, 48, of 6 Greenbriar Drive Apt. 203 was arrested on charges of assault and battery on Greenbriar Drive.

At 6:23 p.m. Saturday, Thomas O. Macpherson, 38, of 25 Marblehead St. was arrested on charges of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on Marblehead Street.

At 11 a.m. Sunday, Lisa M. Dempsey, 52, of 103 Main St. Apt. 1 was arrested on a warrant on Main Street. 

Wednesday, Feb. 20

• At 8:32 a.m., an Appletree Lane resident reported that his vehicle was entered the night before. A GPS and phone charger was taken.
• At 10:41 p.m., a 23-year-old and 57-year-old, both North Reading residents, were summonsed on charges of assault and battery on Bradley Road. 

Thursday, Feb. 21

• At 7:59 a.m., a caller reported a car accident on Lowell Road. No injuries were reported.
• At 9:45 a.m., a loss prevention officer from Walmart reported baby formula stolen.
• At 11:13 a.m., a Meade Road resident reported that a Mission of Deeds truck hit his stone wall and fence while turning around in his driveway.

Friday, Feb. 22

• At 10:12 a.m., a caller reported a hazmat spill on Concord Street.
• At 2:38 p.m., a Strawberry Lane resident reported finding bones while walking her dog. Update: it was confirmed on Wednesday at 11 a.m. that the bones were from a white-tailed deer.
• At 5:02 p.m., a male brought two hypodermic needles he found into the police station.
• At 7:23 p.m., an employee from Catchin' Rays reported that a customer stole about $250. Police are investigating.

Saturday, Feb. 23

• At 1:26 a.m., a caller reported that his ex-girlfriend took his car without permission. Police found the woman driving the car and she said it must have been a miscommunication. The woman returned the vehicle.

Sunday, Feb. 24

• At 2:17 a.m., a caller reported a car accident on North Street. The injuries were unknown.
• At 2:16 p.m., a resident walked into the police station to report an incident involving possible vandalism and elder abuse. An officer contacted Mystic Valley Elder Services and filed an Elder Abuse notification.
