Five Things to Know Today: March 21

Your guide to North Reading today.

Today is Thursday, March 21. Here are five things to know today:

1. Weather. There is a chance of snow showers today after 1 p.m. Expect mostly cloudy skies with a high near 38.  

2. Board of Assessors. The Board of Assessors will meet at North Reading Town Hall at noon. An exemption report and abatement report are both items on the agenda.

3. Joan Parker. Stop by the Flint Memorial Library at 7 p.m. for an evening with Joan Parker, wife of the late author Robert B. Parker. She will speak about his writings. Local authors Nancy Parsons and Danielle Masterson will also speak as part of the North Reading Reads 2013 program. Please call 978-664-4942 to register. 

4. Job opening. The Reading Police Department is looking for a Public Safety Dispatcher. The job pays $18.26 per hour and applicants should have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, excellent communication skills, computer skills, and the ability to multi-task in a busy environment. 5. Reading ZBA. The ZBA will meet at Reading Town Hall at 7 p.m. A continuation of a Public Hearing on the petition of the Artis Senior Living LLC is on the agenda.
