One of North Reading’s most historic homes is up for sale, as well as 12 acres of land.

The Flint House at 383 Park St. with its 12.3 acres of land hit the real estate market on Thursday for $2.5 million. The impending sale has been rumored in town for weeks.

A potential sale could mean changes in the West Village area. Twelve acres provide plenty of space for new housing.

For historical preservationists, the sale of the Flint House is of concern -- most notably because the historic home is one of only two structures in town left with murals by Rufus Porter. (The other is the Damon Tavern.)

The home is listed as being built in 1713, which was at the founding of North Reading.

The Flint House has four bedrooms and two baths and has 2,788 square feet. The home is in need of “complete rehab,” according to the Zillow listing.
