ICYMI: Area Nonprofit Receives $100K Cummings Foundation Grant

A Reading-based organization, Mission of Deeds, was the recipient of a Cummings Foundation $100K for 100 grant.

The Cummings Foundation, one of the largest private operating foundations in New England, awards $100,000 each to 100 local nonprofits each year. “This $10 million in funding supports a diverse range of causes, including human services, education, healthcare, and social justice,” according to the foundation’s website. “While some of these grants are made as single-year awards, most are multi-year awards, with payments spread over two to 10 years.”

The $100,000 grant issued to Mission of Deeds will help supply new beds and cribs, donated furniture and basic household items, free of charge, to low-income families and individuals, according to the Cummings Foundation.

Mission of Deeds is an nonprofit organization which serves thousands of families and individuals throughout Middlesex and Essex counties, including survivors of domestic abuse, refugees, elderly and those with disabilities, and victims of tragedy, according to its website.

The $100K for 100 was established by the Cummings Foundation in 2012, with 60 grants, the foundation said. It has since expanded to 100 grants of $100,000 each annually. Through the 100 grants and other programs, the Cummings Foundation has made recent contributions and commitments in excess of $100 million.
