ICYMI: North Reading Native Wins Girls' Pole Vault at State Championships

In case you missed it during the busy week, a North Reading girl took home first in girls' pole vault and placed third in 100m hurdles.

A North Reading native recently won the girls’ pole vault at the 2015 Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor State Championships.

Julia Valenti, North Reading High School class of 2016, took home first place in the girls’ pole vault with a mark of 11-9.00 (3.58m), according to the MIAA. The 2015 MIAA Outdoor State Championships took place on Saturday, June 6, at Bridgewater State University, in Bridgewater.

Following behind Valenti was Nicole Kelly, of Billerica Memorial High School, with a mark of 10-9.00 (3.28m) and a five-way tie between Kimmi Logan, Courtney Carver, Jess Ripley, Rachel Hill, also of North Reading HS, and Ashley Colarusso with marks of 9-09.00 (2.97m), the MIAA said.

Additionally, Valenti qualified for the women’s 100m hurdles final and placed third in the finals with a time of 15.18.
