Mailbox Smashed and Suspicious Vehicles Reported

The following information was supplied by the North Reading police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Friday through Wednesday. The information is open to the public.

Friday, May 31

  • At 1:23 a.m., a Kings Row resident reported that someone smashed his mailbox.
  • At 5:51 a.m., an officer reported that the outside of the high school had been spray painted near the auditorium.
  • At 10:31 p.m., a Fairview Street resident reported hearing noises in the woods behind her house and her motion lights kept going off. Police checked the area, but did not find anything.

Saturday, June 1

  • At 9:50 p.m., an Old Andover Road resident reported that her neighbor called her to say that someone was in her house. Police checked the home, but everything was secure.
  • At 10:57 p.m., an Elm Street resident reported kids running up and down the street ringing doorbells.

Sunday, June 2

  • At 9:14 p.m., a caller reported that he was assaulted by a female on Marblehead Street. He was advised of his legal rights.

Monday, June 3

  • At 1:25 p.m., a Brassie Way resident reported that a male entered her garage without permission. The male said he was doing work for a neighbor. Police checked the area, but could not find the male.
  • At 7:28 p.m., a caller reported being threatened at the end of an after school program at the Hood School. Police spoke with both parties involved.

Tuesday, June 4

  • At 9:14 a.m., a caller reported that her car was hit while parked on Park Street.
  • At 1:06 p.m., a Patriot Way resident reported that while walking her dog a male driving an SUV pulled up next to her and said that he wanted to give her dog a biscuit. She thought he was trying to get her to step closer to the vehicle, so she kept walking. Police checked the area, but could not find the vehicle.
  • At 7:35 p.m., several Algonquin Road residents reported a neighbor lighting bonfires. The fire department responded.

Wednesday, June 5

  • At 1:45 p.m., a caller reported a suspicious vehicle on Nutter Road. Police found that the driver of the vehicle was doing work for RMLD.
