North Reading Closing In On Water Deal with Andover

The town is close to finalizing a six-year deal with the Town of Andover.

The Town of North Reading is close to completing a six-year water contract with the Town of Andover, according to published reports.

The six-year deal will require North Reading to pay a one-time payment of less than $50,000 and an increase in water rates over the next few years, mirroring what residents pay, according to a report from the Eagle Tribune.

North Reading will be required to pay $2.95 per 100 cubic feet of water used in fiscal year 2014, during which the town was charged $3 for two months, according to the report. However, the rate increased to $3.10 in 2015 and North Reading only paid $3, causing the town to owe Andover about $50,000, the report said.
