North Reading Resident Volunteers During Spring Break
Melissa Psallidas volunteered to help Florida's State Parks.
According to James Madison University, North Reading resident Melissa Psallidas volunteered for the Nature's Conservancy in Florida during spring break as part of the university's Alternative Spring Break program.
Psallidas, along with the other students, helped the Nature's Conservancy in Bristol to restore habitats, according to James Madison. They seeded native wiregrass, removed plants and helped maintain the trails in some of Florida's state parks.
The student trips are based on a social issue such as environmentalism, homelessness or community wellness, according to James Madison. During the trips, the students live simply and focus on their service, teamwork and reflection within their group.
