Traffic Alert: Road Work Planned for Multiple Streets This Week and Next

Heads up, drivers!

NORTH READING, MA — The North Reading Police Department this week sent out a notice of ongoing road work in the area of Haverhill, Chestnut and Central Streets, which may cause delays.

According to police, there will be road work in the following areas:

  • Haverhill Street; from the Ipswich River Bridge to the Reading town line
  • New Street; from Chestnut Street to Haverhill Street
  • Chestnut Street; from Haverhill Street to Flint Street
  • Central Street; from North Street to the Andover town line

This initial work involves heat scarifying and planning of the existing asphalt base. The streets are overlaid with 1 ½” of hot mix asphalt a few weeks later, police said.

Schedules are subject to change, given recent rain, but the project is tentatively slated to last only until Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Police warn that delays may be experienced when traveling by the work sites. Alternate routes should be considered.
