Two Methuen Residents Arrested on Shoplifting Charges

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Monday through Thursday. The information is open to the public.
Arrests
At 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, an employee from CVS reported that two males entered the store and approached the pharmacy. One male said he was looking for pain medication because he broke his hand. He kept one hand in his pocket, possibly clutching something. The other male walked around the store with a blue bag and allegedly put some items into the bag without paying for them. As a result of the call, two males were arrested and two summonsed. Robert K. O'Neil, 28, of 7 College Ln., Methuen was arrested on charges of shoplifting by asportation, conspiracy to commit a crime and receiving stolen property over $250. Derek McGrail, 25, of 365 Pelham St., Methuen was also arrested on charges of shoplifting by asportation, conspiracy to commit a crime and receiving stolen property over $250. A 25-year-old Methuen resident was summonsed on charges of giving a false name and address to a police officer, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, allowing a motor vehicle to be operated without liability insurance and receiving stolen property over $250. A 26-year-old Derry, New Hampshire resident was also summonsed on charges of receiving stolen property over $250.

Monday, May 20
- At 11:37 a.m., a caller reported a car accident on Main Street. Two people were transported to the hospital. As a result of the accident, a 48-year-old Wakefield resident was summonsed on charges of operating with a suspended license.
- At 8:52 p.m., a caller reported that golfers were urinating and lighting off fireworks in the Hillview Country Club parking lot. Police only found two vehicles in the parking lot and they both belonged to employees.

- At 12:50 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on North Street. No injuries were reported.
- At 5:03 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on Main Street. No injuries were reported.
- At 5:06 p.m., a Peabody Court resident reported that a bat hit her window or building. Youths were playing baseball outside.
Wednesday, May 22
- At 11:45 a.m., a caller reported a male and female possibly snorting drugs in a parking lot on Main Street. Police found that the male was fixing his dentures with Fixodent. However, police found numerous clubs and a faded pill bottle filled with various pills inside the vehicle. The male did have a list of medications he was taking.
- At 1 p.m., an employee from Walmart reported that two males stole a phone and charger. They males were gone when police arrived.
- At 2:20 p.m., an employee from Walmart reported a female shoplifter. Police helped the employee identify the female and Walmart handled the rest internally.
Thursday, May 23
- At 1:20 p.m., a caller reported credit card fraud. Police are investigating.
- At 4:15 p.m., a caller reported a male walking in and out of traffic on Lowell Road. As a result of the call, the 46-year-old Wilmington male was held in protective custody.
