Choking Puppy Saved By Quick-Thinking Responders: Watch
How's this for a happy ending? A 9-week-old puppy was revived in a police station lobby over the weekend. You've got to see the video.

NORTH READING, MA — A puppy got another chance at life Sunday after officers saved him in a dramatic moment caught on tape in the lobby of the police department. The 10-minute emergency response had Megan Vitale running the gamut of emotions as North Reading officers and firefighters revived her 9-week-old Bodhi.
Vitale ran into the station with an acquaintance shortly after noon Sunday, telling police her little Saint Bernard was choking on food. When officers came around the corner, they found a limp, unresponsive Bodhi not breathing.
Officers Jorge Hernandez, Peter DiPietro and Joseph Aleo started helping the pup. Assisted by firefighters, the first responders gave Bodhi chest compressions and back blows and ultimately dislodged the food. Bodhi was revived and given oxygen with a special mask designed for pets.

Over the past few years, the firefighters have received specialized training in how to respond to emergencies involving pets.
"Many of our firefighters have pets at home in their own families," Fire Chief Don Stats said. "We do not get to choose the emergency situation that comes our way, so it is important that first responders be prepared for anything."

Thanks to some quick thinking and that special training, the dog was able to leave with his owners and was treated by his veterinarian.
"Ultimately, a life was saved thanks to rescuers falling back on their training and remaining calm," Police Chief Michael Murphy said. "Even though we are not faced with this kind of incident every day, the officers reacted just as they would in any emergency situation. We are hopeful that the puppy will make a full recovery."
