WEATHER UPDATE: Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued for North Reading

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook earlier today for much of Massachusetts, including North Reading.

While hazardous weather is not expected for today or tomorrow, June 30, weather forecasters are predicting possible scattered strong to severe thunderstorms on Wednesday. The NWS said there is uncertainty at this time range, but if storms materialize, the main threats will be damaging straight line gusts and hail. Additionally, heavy rainfall may result in localized flooding.

Monday and Tuesday are expected to be partly sunny and mostly sunny, respectively, with high temperatures near 80 degrees. On Wednesday, weather forecasters said showers and thunderstorms are likely. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent on Wednesday, according to the NWS.

• Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. South wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 10 a.m. High near 76. Southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
• Wednesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m. Patchy fog before 11 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
