When Will the Main Street Bridge Work Be Complete?
Residents want to know more about the Main Street bridge work.

Welcome to You Asked...Patch Answers where we answer readers questions. We recently received questions about the work being done to the bridge on Main Street. Here's some information.
The work being done to the bridge on Main Street near the Reading town line will continue indefinitely. According to Town Administrator Greg Balukonis, he is unsure of when the work will be complete, but will know more "once MassDOT has an update meeting with representatives from both communities on the bridge repairs."
The state has a contract for design of a permanent bridge, however, they do not have the money in their budget for a new bridge, Balukonis said. They do have plans for a temporary fix, which is what they are doing now.

"I was unaware the state did not have money for the bridge replacement until being informed last week," Balukonis said. "The town is working [with] MassDOT and Reading officials to ensure traffic is not adversely impacted to the greatest extent possible."
