1. Baseball Storytime with Paws

Baseball Storytime with Paws will start 11 a.m. in the Norton Public Library community room. Kids of all ages can enjoy stories and crafts and a visit from Paws, the official mascot of the Pawsox. No registration is required for this program.

2. Bingo

Bingo is held every Friday night at St. Mary's Church. Doors open at the Parish Center 4:30 p.m., bingo begins 6:30 p.m.   

3. Disasters program at Oak Knoll

Earthquakes, tornadoes, floods and volcanic eruptions are all part of New England's geology and natural history. At 1 p.m., join Oak Knoll at 1417 Park St., Attleboro and recreate some of these phenomena as you learn about how and why they occur, as well as the effects they have on our habitats. Make and explode your own volcanoes. Dress for the weather and wear clothing for making messy crafts. Cost is $15 and registration is required by calling 508-223-3060.

4. Massachusetts unemployment rate at 6.4 percent

The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development reported that the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ preliminary March 2013 jobs estimates show that Massachusetts lost 5,500 jobs over the month and the total unemployment rate edged down to 6.4 percent from the 6.5 percent rate in February. Education and Health Services and Leisure and Hospitality added jobs in March. In the first three months of 2013, Massachusetts added 12,600 jobs. Over the year, Massachusetts added 40,300 jobs, 37,300 of which were in the private sector. Over the year, the unemployment rate was down 0.2 of a percentage point from the March 2012 rate of 6.6 percent. Revised numbers from the BLS estimate Massachusetts lost 800 jobs in February.

5. High near 62, low around 48

Today there is a 40 percent chance of showers. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. South wind will be 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Tonight there is an 80 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11 p.m. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Temperature low will be around 53. South wind will be 9 to 17 mph.
