On Friday, McMahon’s Countryside Grille announced the following on their Facebook page:
It is with great sadness that I write this update. Due to a number of circumsatances beyond our control, we have decided that it is time for us to close our doors for good. We wish to express our deepest gratitude to all of our loyal customers, many of whom have become close friends. You will all be truly missed. We sincerely appreciate the support and friendship you have all given to us over the past 2 years. We look forward to spending some long overdue quality time with our family while we wait to see what the future hold for us. Thank you again for everything. Sincerely, The McMahon Family and staff

2. Karaoke
The Trinity Bar & Restaurant in Norton is hosting Karaoke from Karl Bock at 8 p.m. Sundays. Come down and belt out your favorite tunes!
3. Bake sale fundaiser
Foxboro Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 308 Central St.,Foxborough, will hold a bake sale fundraiser starting 1 p.m. to help cover medical expenses. It will include sweet treats, breads and even some vegan/gluten-free goods. All proceeds to go to aid in paying for sizeable medical bills.
4. Tips for avoiding texting while driving
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a texting driver is 23 times more likely to get into a crash than a non-texting driver. Additionally, of those killed in distracted-driving crashes, 995 (18 percent) reported a cellphone as the cause for distraction. Amica is offering the following tips from the NHTSA to help eliminate texting and driving:

When you’re in the car, put your cellphone in a place that is unreachable and out of sight.

Turn off audio notifications. If you can’t hear the phone go off, there will be no temptation to respond to text messages.
Lend your phone to a passenger in the car and have them do the texting.

Download an app that will temporarily disable the phone while driving. You can use it again upon arriving at your destination.
