Chace Building Supply, 129 Washington St., Foxborough, will hold a Money in the Mulch contest. Ten participants will dig through a huge pile of mulch 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for their chance to win some great prizes. One person will win a $500 gift certificate to Chace Building Supply and have the opportunity to spruce up their own environment. Along with watching contestants dig thru the mulch pile and find the buried $500 gift certificate, 94 HJY and Paul Fuller will be on-site giving away prizes. Food and refreshments will be served, so we welcome everyone to come on down and join us for lunch on Saturday. If you would like to participate in the event and dig through the mulch for your chance to win, register now at www.94HJY.com keyword CHACE. There will also be walk-in registrations that will be chosen at random. The event will be outside in the Chace parking lot. Rain date is May 4.

4. Tips for safe navigation on wet roads

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, wet pavement results in more than a million car crashes every year. More than 500,000 people are injured during those accidents, while more than 5,000 are killed.

As a result, Amica is offering the following 5 tips from The Weather Channel to help drivers safely navigate wet roads:

  • Prevent skids by driving slowly and cautiously, and be especially careful on curves. Using a light touch while steering and braking also helps.

  • If you do go into a skid, slowly take your foot off the gas, and steer in the direction that you want the front of the car to go.

  • Cut down on hydroplaning by making sure your tires are properly inflated and maintaining good tire tread.

  • Do not brake or turn suddenly while hydroplaning, as it may force your car into a skid. Slowly take your foot off the gas until the car has slowed and you can feel the road again.

  • Lower speed according to the road conditions before having to use any of the defensive measures listed above.

  • 5. High near 67, low around 38

Today there will be patchy fog before 7 a.m. Otherwise, it will be sunny, with a high near 67. Calm wind will become south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 40. South wind will be around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.
