Men’s Swimming & Diving Earns CSCAA Team Scholar All-America Award

Lyons post 3.13 cumulative grade point average.

The Wheaton College men's swimming and diving team has been named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Team Scholar All-America list.

The Lyons compiled a 3.13 cumulative grade point average (GPA) to earn a spot on the list among 63 other NCAA Division III programs. Two additional programs from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) also made the list including Clark University and Springfield College. Clark posted the highest GPA of any NCAA Division III team at 3.60.

Academically, junior Matt Sexton (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack)highlights the squad in the classroom after earning his second-career NEWMAC Academic All-Conference award this season.

Sexton currently holds a 3.98 GPA as a chemistry major at Wheaton. Sexton is also the first swimmer or diver for the Lyons to earn back-to-back academic all-conference honors since current head coach Barrett Roberts '07. Sexton has won the President's Award twice during his time at Wheaton as a freshman and a sophomore. Sexton is also a member of two groups at the College including the Pre-Health Society and BACCHUS which is an organization that provides the student body with consistent and practical alcohol education and fun and safe alcohol-alternative events. In the chemistry department, Sexton is a Specialized Problems in Enhanced Chemistry (SPEC) leader.

To be eligible for a Team Scholar All-America Award, all teams listed must have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
