Men’s Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season With Strong Showing
Lyons 4x400-meter relay team places second.

The Wheaton College men's track and field team opened up its 2013 outdoor season at the Bridgewater State University Invitational on Saturday afternoon with several strong performances in the non-scoring meet.
Freshmen Alexei Spinu (New Cannon, Mass./New Cannon) andSam Miklovich (Gray New Gloucester, Maine/Gray New Gloucester), sophomore Nathan Sheridan (Albuquerque, N.M./Desert Academy) and senior Sam Fear (Bath, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) posted the highest finish for the Lyons coming in at second overall in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:36.03.
Fear also ranked fourth overall in the javelin (184-feet, 7-inches), tied for fifth in the high jump with a height of six feet and 15th in the shot put with a mark of 37-feet and 11.25-inches. In the 4x100-meter relay, Fear teamed up with Miklovich, junior Christopher Panzini (Revere, Mass./Revere) and freshman James O'Laughlin (Boxborough, Mass./Parker Charter School) for a ninth place finish in 47.67-seconds.

Spinu fared well in his only individual event of the meet with a fourth place performance in the 400-meter run with a time of 51.97-seconds.
Sophomore Ben Sharma (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) turned in a time of 16.07-seconds for fourth place in the 110-hurdles and a time of 1:01.71 in the 400-meter hurdles for seventh overall.

Classmates Harry Bachrach (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Beaver Country Day) and John Green (Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) and seniorMichael Richard (Chicopee, Mass./Holyoke Catholic) doubled for the Lyons in the 800-meter run and the 1,500-meter run. Bachrach led the trio in both races finishing 21st overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.14 and 24th overall in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:19.96. Green clocked times of 2:10.89 (23rd overall) and 4:20.09 (25th overall) while Richard came in at 2:13.06 (26th overall) and 4:22.11 (26th overall).
In the 200-meter run, Miklovich placed 23rd overall in 24.84-seconds ahead of Panzini (25.72-seconds/35th overall) and O'Laughlin (27.95-seconds/48th overall).
Junior Logan Hinderliter (Allegheny, Pa./Allegheny) competed in three throwing events finishing 15th overall in the weight throw (102-feet, 7-inches), 16th overall in the javelin (142-feet) and 19th overall in the shot put (36-feet, 3.50-inches).
Wheaton returns to action on Saturday, March 30 at the Snowflake Classic hosted by Tufts University at 10 a.m.
