Norton Board of Health: No Serious Violations in April, Minor Offenses at Wheaton College
An overview of the Norton Board of Health's latest inspections.

The Norton Board of Health report issued on Monday saw no serious violations, according to health agent Leon Dumont.
“We’re very fortunate in town, the restaurants are very good they’re very proactive in town,” Dumont said. “They’re on a rigid program and they never know when we’re coming and they’ve all been very very good.”
The board of health is required by state law to do at least two surprise inspections of all eateries within a town, which in Norton is over 150 establishments. He added the town is required to do more inspections if there are violations found.

This month, the board inspected 10 establishments, which were mostly at Wheaton College.
According to the report, there were six violations in total, three of which were deemed critical.

Dumont said all violations issued this month weren't serious, and all establishments were given notice they must adhere to regulations. He said a violation could be anything from a slightly lower than required holding temperature at a buffet or food particles in a hand washing sink.
“It was really serious, we would close them down,” he said. “Fortunately, we’ve never had to do that.”
He added fines are also used to make offenders comply.
Wheaton College Emerson Dinning Hall had one critical violation and the Chase Dinning hall had two. Emerson also had one noncritical while the Chase Hall also had one noncritical and the Loft within the school was also issued a noncritical violation.
The Wheaton Catering service, The Wheaton Café, Science Center,The baseball concession stand, Wetherall’s Garden Stand, the L.G. Nuourse School, and the J.C. Solmonese School were also inspected and had no violations whatsoever.
