Norton Public Library Adds Early Literacy Computer
An Early Literacy Computer has been added to the Children's Room at the Norton Public Library.

Norton, MA - [1/26/2022] - Thanks to a generous technology grant from the Norton Media Center, the Norton Public Library is pleased to announce the addition of a brand new Early Literacy Station (ELS) with After School Edge - an engaging, educational touchscreen computer loaded with award-winning software titles and more than 4,000 learning activities geared toward kids ages 2-12.
Playing these games supports school readiness and early education while making learning exciting and fun. The ELS offers STREAM-aligned games and activities spanning all curriculum areas: reading, language arts, math, science, social studies, writing, graphic arts, typing, music, and more. The ELS’s intuitive and imaginative touchscreen interface encourages exploration and collaboration. Since it is a self-contained computer designed with pre-readers in mind, the need for adult intervention and technical support is greatly minimized.
The Library invites you and your children to visit and explore the interactive stories, games, and adventures that are included in the Early Literacy Station, filling the early learning gap while library storytimes are on hold. Over-ear headphones are available, but feel free to bring your own. Masks are required in the library for everyone ages 2 and up. For additional information, contact Leah Labrecque, Youth Services Librarian, at leah@sailsinc.org
The library is grateful to the Norton Media Center for making this exciting community resource possible.
