Norton Residential Tax Rates Rank Fourth Against Neighbors

Boston Business Journal compares fiscal year 2012 rates.

Several weeks ago, Norton selectmen voted to endorse raising both the residential and commercial/industrial property tax rates.

According to the Boston Business Journal, Norton is middle of the road against its neighbors in terms of commercial industrial tax rates for fiscal year 2012, at least in some areas, and is the fourth most expensive town among Easton, Mansfield, Attleboro, N. Attleboro, Taunton and Rehoboth.

Norton selectmen voted Nov. 16 to increase the tax rate from 13.54 percent to 14.92 percent, about a 6 percent increase for residents and 10 percent for commercial. The FY13 rates have not all been approved yet.
