Obituary: Elizabeth Lawrence Van Meter

Elizabeth Lawrence Van Meter, 93, of Sharon, died Nov. 30, 2012.

Elizabeth was daughter of the late Right Reverend William Appleton Lawrence, Bishop of the Diocese of Western Massachusetts and Hannah Wheelwright Cobb Lawrence. She was wife of 55 years to Reverend Dale L. Van Meter.

Elizabeth leaves her children Julia Wood of Sharon and Amelia Lydon of Gilmanton, N.H.; her grandchildren Hannah Wood Sykes and her husband Jonathan of Columbia, Md., Dale Wood of Norton, Nicholas Lydon of Gilmanton, N.H. and Kevin Lyden of Mansfield; her great-grandchildren Christiana Sykes, Logan and Alisson Wood and Lyrah and Gabriel Lydon; her siblings Susan Hazard of New York, N.Y., Reverend Charles Lawrence of Lexington, Ky., Sarah "Sally" Clark of Scarborough, Maine, Hannah "Nancy" Schuller of Cambridge and Samuel Lawrence of Chevy Chase, Md. She was preceded in death by her daughter Laura Van Meter and her brother William "Bill" Lawrence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Elizabeth's life 1 p.m. Monday at Saint John's Episcopal Church, 23 High St., Sharon. Interment will be private.
