Subtropical Storm Nicole May Hit MA At Week's End: Weather Service
The powerful near-hurricane Nicole will hit Florida before traveling up the East Coast, according to forecasts.
NORTON, MA — Subtropical storm Nicole is headed for New England.
The near-hurricane brewing in the Atlantic will make landfall in Florida sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday before banking north and traveling up the East Coast, according to forecasts. Nicole could become a category 1 hurricane before it hits central Florida.
A weakened version of Nicole will likely arrive in New England on Friday, bringing high winds and plenty of rain, according to forecasts.

"The remnants of Nicole are looking more likely to bring heavy rain and gusty winds to southern New England Friday night and Saturday," the National Weather Service office in Norton said in a tweet Tuesday morning.
"There will be two systems phasing in our vicinity that will bring heavy rain and gusty winds: Nicole's remnant low and a trough of low pressure over the Midwest. These come together Friday night, lifting through New England on Saturday," the extended forecast says.

The stormy conditions will blow into New England on more warm air. Seasonable temperatures returned to Massachusetts Tuesday after highs near 80 all weekend, but warmth will return Thursday and Friday. High temperatures on Veterans Day might reach 70 in Boston and Worcester, according to forecasts. Temperatures will likely remain in the 60s through the weekend.
