Synchro Opens Collegiate Nationals With Strong Performances

Moses, Wendth finish tenth in duet semis.

The Wheaton College synchronized swimming team opened up day one of the U.S. Collegiate Nationals, hosted by Stanford University at the Avery Aquatics Center, with several strong performances Thursday afternoon.

Wheaton sophomore Kayla Moses (East Greenbush, N.Y./CDYMCA Sculpins) turned in an eighth place performance in the solo semifinals with a score of 77.9250 points. Junior Nicole Chicoine (Santa Rosa, Calif./Red Wood Empire Synchro) placed 12th overall compiling 73.7250 points for her routine.

In the duet semifinals, Moses and senior Kirsten Wendth(Waterford, N.Y./CDYMCA Sculpins) ranked tenth overall with a score of 76.3875 points. The Lyons did not enter a trio routine in yesterday's competition.

The U.S. Collegiate Nationals will continue Friday, March 22 with the team semifinals and technical competitions. The finals will be held on Saturday, March 23 beginning at 11:30 EST.
