Wheaton Places Sixth Overall At U.S. Collegiate Nationals

Lyons finish inside the top-10 for 25th straight season.

The Wheaton College synchronized swimming team placed sixth overall at the U.S. Collegiate Nationals, hosted by Stanford University at the Avery Aquatics Center, with 47.5 points. The host Cardinal captured their seventh U.S. Collegiate Nationals title with 97.0 points while Ohio State University was second (78.0) and Lindenwood University ranked third (76.0).

In the team routine finals, Wheaton placed eighth overall as freshman Ann Marie Brasacchio (Sarasota, Fla.), sophomore Riley Callahan-Mayo (San Diego, Calif./San Diego Sweetwater Dolphins), junior Nicole Chicoine (Santa Rosa, Calif./Red Wood Empire Synchro), senior Christine Dyster (Tempe, Ariz./Arizon Desert Gems), sophomores Janine Kopeski (Sterling, Mass./ANA Synchro) and Kayla Moses (East Greenbush, N.Y./CDYMCA Sculpins), junior Holly Wagman (York, Pa./Pennsbury Falconettes) and senior Kirsten Wendth (Waterford, N.Y./CDYMCA Sculpins) compiled a score of 80.2750 points.

Moses and Chicoine also competed in the solo routine finals posting a pair of top-10 finishes for the Lyons. Moses ranked sixth overall with a mark of 77.8375 points while Chicoine placed tenth overall (73.7500 points).

In the duet routine finals, Moses and Wendth combined for a seventh place finish with a score of 77.1375 points.

Wheaton wraps up its 2012-13 season with its 25th straight top-10 performance at the U.S. Collegiate Nationals and 27th overall in program history. The Lyons also placed second overall for the fourth-straight season at the East Collegiate Regional/Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships earlier this year.
