Area Drug Supplier Taken Down by NORPAC Detectives

The following is a press release from the Norwood Police Department:

On Friday, July 20, 2012, Norwood and Randolph detectives assisted by detectives of the NORPAC Task Force completed a several month long drug investigation into Carlos Perez-Figueroa of 345 Washington St. in Dorchester. During the investigation that preceded Perez-Figueroa’s arrest NORPAC detectives were able to make controlled drug purchases from him, and identified him as a significant drug supplier in the Norwood area and surrounding towns. Perez-Figueroa was arrested along with Jorge Vega of Gaston St. in Quincy and Melvin Arias-Figueroa of Pleasant St. in Fall River. The three men were arrested and charged with: Trafficking in Cocaine, Trafficking in Heroin and Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Law. Perez-Figueroa was also charged with two counts of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Operating a Motor Vehicle to Endanger, the result of his ramming his car into two surveillance vehicles in an effort to escape and avoid being arrested by police.

The investigation which began in Norwood culminated in an arrest in the Town of Randolph, which is where Perez-Figueroa kept a drug supply house from where he centered drug distribution to local communities. Seized at the time of his arrest pursuant to a search warrant was approximately 343 grams of cocaine, 45 grams of heroin and 46 Oxycodone pills. The approximate street value of the drugs is estimated in excess of $40,000. Additionally, officers uncovered a drug hide which contained drugs, located in the vehicle Perez-Figueroa used to transport the drugs.

The Norfolk County Police Anti-Crime (NORPAC) Task Force serves the Norfolk County towns of Canton, Dedham, Foxborough, Medfield, Millis, Needham, Norfolk, Norwood, Plainville, Sharon, Stoughton, Walpole, Westwood, Wellesley and Wrentham. It has been in existence since 1987.
