Morrill Memorial Library is pleased to welcome local ArtMatters presenter Beth Knaus for "Art Keeps Us Human," a mini-history of Western civilization through art, on Tuesday, January 20 starting at 7:00pm in the Simoni Room.

Art teaches and communicates. Art has humor, adventure, and passion. Art matters! It is a uniquely human activity, and the sole reason we have an advanced civilization. We use visual images to communicate with one another as a species. Art transcends language, different cultures, time, and distance. It keeps us connected to each other as humans.

Join us tonight for a mini-history of Western civilization through art, from the caves to the shuttle, to see and understand how art and civilization depend upon each other. Be sure to bring your sense of humor, and your sense of Human.

About the presenter: Beth Knaus is a creative professional and lifelong writer, with 15-plus years as an ArtMatters presenter. She loves connecting with people through engaging stories about how art communicates and makes the world a better place. She lives in Norwood with her husband and cat, and has three adult children.

Registration is required for this in-person event; register online, or by visiting or calling the Reference Desk at 781-769-0200 x2.
