New Norwood HS Principal Outlines Entry Plan
Incoming Norwood High School Principal Hugh Galligan recently laid out his plan.

The following is from new Norwood High School Principal Dr. Hugh Galligan:
It truly is an honor and a privilege to serve the Norwood community as Principal of Norwood High School. I have received a warm welcome from everyone I have met so far, and look forward to meeting many more of you in the future. I am extremely fortunate and happy to be part of such a caring community where staff, students, families, and community partners all work together to provide a top-notch education for all of our children.
My goal for the summer and early fall is to try and meet as many people as possible. My entry plan (attached)
outlines my plan to listen and learn for the first 100 days of the principalship in an effort to understand the proud culture and tradition that exists here, as well as the successes and challenges that may exist. Please take a look if you have a few minutes.

Regarding staffing, I’d like to formally welcome two new members to the NHS leadership team:
- • Ms. Cindy Derrane will serve as the Interim Vice Principal for the 2018-19 school year. Ms. Derrane has been a tremendous educator and advocate for NHS’ children for over twenty years. Her leadership skills as a department chair and teacher will undoubtedly translate to exceptional leadership in her new position.
- Mr. John Sarianides will serve as our freshmen dean for the 2018-19 school year. An NHS alum, “Mr. S” has provided leadership as a teacher and coach for many years. We are excited for him to work with our freshmen, building relationships and providing social, emotional, and behavioral support as they transition to life at NHS and mature into successful young adults.
- Save the date: The deadline to register for fall sports is August 3. For more information, visit www.norwoodmustangs.com
- Freshmen Orientation will be on Wednesday August 29 at 8:30 a.m. Incoming freshmen and parents/guardians are invited to attend. More info to come!
Summer is a great time to focus on family and spend time with those we love. Please enjoy every minute of it. I’ll be in touch periodically this summer with updates, but feel free to call, email, or introduce yourself when you see me at any time. I sincerely look forward to working with you to provide an amazing high school experience for our kids.
