Norwood Commission On Disability Releases Survey

The link to the survey will be posted on the town's website and will be collecting information during the month of February .

NORWOOD, MA - Norwood's Commission on Disability is releasing a community survey to gather information on how to better serve the disability community's needs.

"The Commission members are using the survey tool to poll the public on what they should focus on as a Commission, and for input on how to best help plan for Norwood's future," according to Michael Rosen, the town's Assistant General Manager.

The link is available here as well as on the town's website. It will also be shared by the town on social media. Hard copies are available in hard copy at the Morrill Memorial Library, the Council on Aging, the Recreation Department, and the Norwood Housing Authority.

There is also a QR code out there that will auto-direct people to the survey if they scan it with their smartphone camera.

The survey describes terms of accessibility in terms that can encompass all types of disabilities ranging from cognition to mobility to visual or hearing impairments. Accessibility in the survey is described as "the ability of any person with a difficulty to easily reach, enter, interact with, understand or otherwise use, participate or enjoy a place, space, item, resource or service."

It also asks for people's opinions about how accessible different activities and places are in town, from public buildings to parks and recreational activities to housing and employment opportunities. There is space to provide more detailed comments about personal experineces. The survey asks how well people's needs are being met on a four-point scale.

The survey will be conducted during the entire month of February.
