Norwood Resident Wins $18K for Red Cross, Will Go To World Series

Kathryn Simoni of Norwood won an $18,000 donation for The American Red Cross through the State Farm Go to Bat program.

State Farm Insurance and Major League Baseball (MLB) announced this week that Kathryn Simoni of Norwood is the third, and latest, weekly winner in the State Farm Go to Bat program – an online, charitable giving initiative driven by the commitment State Farm makes to helping communities “get to a better state®.”

As a winner, Simoni earned a donation of $18,000 for The American Red Cross, one of four national charities benefitting from 10 weekly $18,000 donations as fans across the nation Go to Bat for their causes. Not only did Simoni do something good for a worthy charity, she also won a VIP trip for two to a game of the 2012 MLB World Series. While there, Simoni will participate in an on-field ceremony showcasing the collective impact of the Go to Bat program.

“State Farm continues to find new ways to help causes and individuals get to a better state,” said Public Affairs Specialist Arlene J. Lester. “Through the Go to Bat program, we’re excited to give this week's winner, Kathryn Simoni, the chance to personally experience the 2012 World Series, and to help the American Red Cross - an organization that she cares deeply about.”

There’s still time for baseball fans to Go to Bat for charity. It’s as simple as visiting www.statefarm.com/gotobat and swinging for the fences in the State Farm Go to Bat game. The Go to Bat program concludes on September 17.

Each time someone plays the game online, it’s an entry to win. Fans can increase their chances of winning, and those of their chosen charity, by playing the game up to three times each day, inviting their friends to participate and sharing their results online.
