Norwood Library Presents Author's Story Of "The Wolf Child"

Norwood author Tom O'Connell will recount his story of growing up in a Norwood orphanage during World War II on April 9.

NORWOOD, MA - Norwood author Tom O'Connell will discuss his memoir about growing up in Norwood in an orphanage at the Morrill Memorial Library in Norwood on Saturday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m.

The presentation will consist of readings from his memoir, "The O'Connell Boy: Educating 'the Wolf Child,'" followed by discussion prompted by the audience.

In his presentation about World War II-era Norwood, O'Connell will talk with the audience about what it was like growing up in a small Catholic Charities orphanage in Norwood from 1937 to 1946. At her Mountain Avenue home, Mrs. White, an Irish widow, was the guardian of six "discarded" boys sponsored by Catholic Charities of Greater Boston.
