Boston Cop Jailed After Norwood Child Porn Arrest
Joe Martinez, a Boston Police officer since 2008, was charged with possession of child pornography and two other charges.

NORWOOD, MA - Norwood police released a statement Friday morning on the arrest of a veteran Boston police officer and Norwood resident who was charged on three courts related to child pornography.
Joe Martinez, a Boston Police officer since 2008, was charged with possession of child pornography, posing a child under 18 for nude photos, and secret sex surveillance of a nude person under 18, according to a statement released by the Boston Police Department Thursday.
"On Thursday, March 17 detectives of the Norwood Police Department arrested Joe Martinez of 86 Hamden Drive in Norwood on charges of Possession of Child Pornography, Posing a Child under 18 for Nude Photos, and Secret Sex Surveillance of a Nude Person Under 18," according to a statement released Friday morning by Norwood police. "He was held overnight on bail pending his arraignment at Dedham District Court."

Martinez was held on $10,000 cash bail.
Norwood police said the investigation was conducted jointly with the office of Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey.

"BPD Bureau of Professional Standards was notified in the early stages and assisted with the investigation," according to the statement.
"Due to the sensitivity of the case further details are not being released, except that the capture of the images did not occur in a public place," Norwood police said.
Patch reached out to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office and Dedham District Court and is awaiting more information.
