Update: Norwood Police Catch Suspected Purse Thief

The suspect was shown on video footage taking a purse. Inside were hearing aids valued at $7,000.

NORWOOD, MA - The Norwood Police Department on Saturday identified and are charging the man suspected of stealing a woman's purse from her car, which contained her hearing aids along with other valuables.

Based on security camera images and tips from the public, Daniel Blodgett, 60, was questioned by police. He turned in the stolen purse and its contents, including the hearing aids, an iPhone and keys. The victim has been notified and is retrieving her property.

The police statement said that Blodgett told officers he had been living in his car. In light of his cooperation, he was photographed and fingerprinted but was not arrested. He will be summonsed to court on larceny charges.

According to police, the suspect was seen Thursday in the parking lot of Seven Hens in Norwood at 884 Washington St. reaching into the victim’s car and taking her purse. The purse contained hearing aids that are valued at $7,000, and recovering them has been a high priority.
