The Norwood business leader and philanthropist said he is giving free gas away Friday for "April Fuels" Day - first-come, first-served
NORWOOD, MA - With gas prices escalating to their highest levels in history over the past several weeks, the temptation of a free tank is no laughing matter.
Norwood business leader and philanthropist Ernie Boch Jr. is hoping to pump up people's spirits as well as their gas tanks Friday by offering 7,000 gallons of gas on a first-come, first-served basis at Norwood's Rojo Car Wash at 69 Providence Hwy. on the Automile beginning at 7 a.m.
Boch announced on WEEI-FM's "The Greg Hill Show" Thursday morning that he wanted to turn April Fool's Day into "April Fuels Day."

"Given the fact that tomorrow is April Fool's Day, and the price of gas is at an all-time high, Ernie wanted to give people a break and put a smile on their face," according to Peggy Rose, a sposkesperson for Boch.
Boch will be at the Rojo Car Wash pumping gas and providing coffee and pastries on a first-come, first served basis while supplies last.

This could be a prime opportunity for families to save some cash as school vacation is on the horizon. Twelve pumps will be in service.
"We were hoping that this would be helpful to families who have multiple vehicles," Rose said. "But really, anyone who could use a free tank of gas can come on down."
As of 2 p.m., gas at Rojo's was $4.26 per gallon.
