Norwood's Selectman David Hajjar Dies Unexpectedly Saturday
Two town sources have confirned that he experienced a medical emergency.

NORWOOD, MA - Selectman David Hajjar died yesterday afternoon after experiencing a medical emergency in his home.
"He did pass away yesterday," General Manager Tony Mazzucco confirmed in a text. "Completely unexpected. We are very shocked and saddened."
Board of Selectman Chair Thomas Maloney also confirmed in a text that Hajjar died yesterday.

The Town of Norwood released the following statement Sunday morning:
"The Town of Norwood regretfully announces the unexpected passing of Selectman David Hajjar, following a medical emergency at his home on Saturday morning.

"Selectman Hajjar grew up in Norwood, and served the town with distinction for many years. He served on the Personnel Board for 13 years, including seven as chairman, and later served as a member of the Finance Commission. He was elected to the Board of Selectmen in 2019.
Selectman Hajjar was a continuous presence at Town Meeting, taking pride that he had never missed a single session.
“David always wanted to make the Town of Norwood a better place,” Selectmen Chairman Thomas Maloney said. “He served the community he loved, selflessly and with distinction, and will be missed.
Selectman Hajjar is survived by his wife and four children.
Details about memorial services will be provided as they become available."
Hajjar also was the first chair of Impact Norwood, a group promoting a drug free and healthy Norwood through awareness, education, prevention and action.
