Norwood's Skating Club Of Boston Hosts 2022 Skate America
Tickets go on sale Friday for the three-day event beginning on Oct. 21. This is the first time the facility has hosted Skate America

NORWOOD, MA - Tickets for the 2022 Skate America competition, hosted at The Skating Club of Boston, will go on sale Friday to the general public.
The athletic complex, considered to be New England’s premier figure-skating training facility and a founding member of U.S. Figure Skating, officially opened in Norwood in December. The Skating Club of Boston, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, is the third-oldest skating club in the country and a founding member of U.S. Figure Skating.
Skate America is an international, senior-level figure skating competition that will kick off the International Skating Union’s Grand Prix Series.

The event on October 21-23, 2022 will be the first time The Skating Club of Boston has hosted Skate America after successfully being the host club for the 2001 and 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the 2016 ISU World Figure Skating Championships.
“This is an incredible opportunity for skating fans from across New England to see the new crop of elite skaters from around the world at the first international competition of the season,” said Doug Zeghibe, executive director of The Skating Club of Boston. “We are thrilled to bring skating fans to the all-new Tenley E. Albright Performance Center to showcase all this incredible talent. It’s rare to see skaters of this caliber compete in such an intimate setting.”

Skate America is an elite invitational competition which features skaters from around the globe. Former Skate America U.S. gold medalists include Nathan Chen and Vincent Zhou in men’s singles; Ashley Wagner and Mariah Bell in ladies’ singles; Alexa Scimeca Knierim and Brandon Frazier in pairs; and Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue in ice dancing.
“We’re excited to kick off the ISU Grand Prix Series in a venue that celebrates the history of figure skating in the United States,” said Ramsey Baker, U.S. Figure Skating Executive Director. “Fans will enjoy the great sight lines and intimate setting while watching some of the world’s top skaters take to the ice.”
The Skating Club of Boston is a 180,000 square-foot facility with three rinks that includes the 2,500-seat Tenley E. Albright Performance Center, where the competition will take place. The Tenley E. Albright Performance Center features a custom-designed Bose arena sound system, fully-upholstered seats, a high-definition overhead video board and an Olympic-size ice surface. Spectators can also enjoy a wide variety of fresh food prepared on site, and many options for beverages, including beer and wine.
