Air Soft Guns Mistaken For Real Thing Twice in 24 Hours

Sunday, Aug. 19

  • At 7:15 p.m., a driver called police to tell them he saw a man driving a grey Buick Century, waving a gun around. Police found the person and said it was a youth with an Air Soft weapon. The officer said the gun was clearly marked as a toy.
  • At 9:08 p.m., police arrested Jean Tobin, 45, 65 Central St., Peabody, and Ralph E. Sciarretta, 43, 11A May St., Salem. Police were each charged with trespassing and breaking and entering for misdemeanor on Main Street.
  • At 10:14 p.m., a person reported getting in a fight with a teenager who threw a rock at his car at McDonalds on Main Street.
  • An egging was reported on Lindauer Street at 10:28 p.m.

  • At 12:33 a.m., police arrested Aurelio H. Loureiro, 54, 65 Central St., Peabody, and charged him with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and two counts of threatening to commit a crime. Loureiro was found yelling in front of a Collins Street home.
  • At 9:05 a.m., a resident reported squirrels in her mother's chimney on Stevens Street. Police told the woman to hire an exterminator.
  • At 11:05 a.m., a resident near Harris and Tremont streets reported a male in army fatigues carrying a handgun. Police found a juvenile playing with an Air Soft gun.
