State Police: Alleged Danvers Carjacker Arrested in Peabody

State Police arrested a Boston man in Peabody after an alleged carjacking in Danvers.

PEABODY, MA – State Police arrested a Boston man in Peabody on Saturday afternoon after Danvers Police reported that a suspect in a breaking and entering case had just carjacked a 2004 Ford Explorer, according to a statement.

Guillermo Jose Torres, 37, of Boston was arrested on charges of received a stolen motor vehicle, using a motor vehicle without authority, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license, breakdown lane violation, and speeding. State Trooper James Maloney of the Danvers barracks saw the car in question speed down the breakdown lane on Route 1 South in Peabody, and stopped the driver.

Torres allegedly got out of the car and made an "aggressive advance" toward the trooper. After a struggle, Torres was arrested.

After he was booked at the Danvers barracks on those charges, he was transported to Danvers Police for alleged criminal activity in Danvers, according to the state police statement.

Danvers Police did not release any information on the case.
