Authorities Arrest Fugitive In Peabody

Peabody Police investigated a recent incident, and arrested a Lynn man on violent charges.

PEABODY, MA – Officers arrested a man from the Holiday Inn on Newbury Street following an investigation into a slew of violent charges.

Jose Luis Vasquez, 26, of Lynn, was arrested on three warrants, on charges of two counts of rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery on a household member, intimidation of a witness, two counts of threats, and violation of probation. The charges stem from a recent incident.

Peabody patrol officers and detectives were assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, state police detectives assigned to Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett's office.

"The collaborative effort of the agencies and law enforcement officers assisting in the arrest resulted in the successful apprehension of a wanted offender without harm to the public or law enforcement officers," said a statement from the Peabody Police.

Vasquez is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday in Peabody District Court.
