Cause of Christmas Day Fire Ruled Undetermined
The cause of the fire at 168 Washington St. has been ruled undetermined.

PEABODY, MA – The cause of the fire that scorched a Washington Street building on Christmas Day has been ruled undetermined. Peabody Fire Chief Steve Pasdon said firefighters could not safely enter the building after the fire because of the extent of the damage, and they could not get enough information from residents.
Two cats died in the fire on Dec. 25, reported around 9:30 p.m., but no residents or firefighters were reported injured. One person was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The building, at 168 Washington St., was a mixed-use building that held a beauty salon. It will be torn down in the coming weeks.
