Laser Light Aimed at Plane Landing at Logan

Peabody, MA - Someone pointed a laser light into the cockpit of a Delta Airlines flight landing at Logan Airport on Thursday night, according to State Police.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. on Thursday, and the plane landed safely at Logan.

The laser appeared to be coming from slightly northeast of the city, according to the flight crew.

Police searched Revere and Lynn, but did not find anything.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, there were over 5,000 cases of people aiming lasers at planes in the United States in 2015.

Shining a laser at an aircraft is a federal crime, and the lasers distract pilots from their duty and can lead to temporary blindness, according to the FAA.
