Man Charged in Theft of High-End Commercial Flooring, Carpet Cleaning Equipment

Beverly man arrested for receiving stolen property from New England Carpet in North Reading.

Peabody police, in conjunction with officers from North Reading and Beverly, arrested a 26-year-old Beverly man Monday in connection with a break-in at New England Carpet in North Reading on Sunday.

Andrew Murley, 26, of 9 Chestnut St., Beverly was apprehended at the and charged with receiving stolen property.

Police said Murley was in possession of one piece of equipment from New England Carpet and they recovered between $15,000 and $20,000 worth of stolen property in a storage locker in Peabody. The items were high-end commercial flooring and carpeting cleaning equipment, including heavy machines, extractors and vacuums.

At 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, the that his office and trucks were broken into overnight. The three departments conducted a joint investigation, which led to Murley's arrest on Monday.

Both North Reading and Peabody police are charging Murley with one count of receiving stolen property over $200. The case remains open.
