North Shore Woman Sews Presidential Quilt

A woman at Brooksby Village spent more than a year on a quilt featuring all the U.S. presidents.

PEABODY, MA – Just in time for Presidents Day, Brooksby Village resident Flo Perkins finished her latest quilting project.

Perkins said she was looking for a new challenge, and got the idea to make a quilt featuring every U.S. president from a book. She said it took her more than a year to make the 68 x 90 inch quilt. Each square measures 9 x 9 inches, and the presidents' faces were created with a form of embroidery called "redwork."

"I finished the quilt years ago and when President Barack Obama got into office I added him to the quilt and then I just recently added President Donald Trump," said Perkins. "People at Brooksby Village stop me all the time asking how long it took to make and really enjoy looking at all the redwork embroidery."
