Residents were evacuated on Tuesday afternoon after gas readings found within "explosive" limits

PEABODY, MA – National Grid located and repaired a gas leak after residents on Bartholomew Street were evacuated Tuesday afternoon.
Fire Chief Steven Pasdon said a 4 inch intermediate natural gas pipe was leaking, following pipes into at least one home, and causing readings that were within explosive limits. Deputy Chief Henry Hogan directed the evacuation homes in the area while National Grid isolated the leak.
