Peabody Police Arrest Man Who Left Child In Car After Hit-And-Run
Melvin Julio Pascual, 22, of Lynn, is facing a host of charges, including drunken driving and child endangerment.
PEABODY, MA —A two-year-old was found alone, asleep and unhurt in a car Wednesday after the driver fled a bit-and-run crash.
Peabody police arrested Melvin Julio Pascual, 22, of Lynn, and charged him drunken driving (2nd offense), leaving the scene of a property-damage accident, child endangerment while under the influence, disorderly conduct and trespass. The girl was taken to the hospital for an evaluation check and released to her mother.
Police say Pascual hit a parked car on Oak Street around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and drive away. At 6:42 p.m. police received a call from a County Street resident saying a drunk man was on his property. Five minutes later, police received a call about a Honda Civic with crash damage that appeared to have been abandoned on Lynn Street.
