Peabody Police Arrest Two After Threat Allegations

Police stopped the suspect's car on Central Street after a report of threats on Friday night.

PEABODY, MA – Police arrested two men in downtown Peabody on Friday night after one allegedly threatened to hurt his girlfriend and "have a shoot out with police if stopped," according to the police log.

Timothy M. Burke, 28, of West Newbury, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, assault on a household member, assault with a dangerous weapon, and threatening to commit a crime after officers stopped a car on Central Street on Friday, Jan. 13, around 8 p.m.

Edwin Martinez Burke, 25, of Salem, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice during the same incident.

Peabody Police put out a description of the suspect after someone called police to say her boyfriend threatened to go to her house and hurt her. The caller said the man claimed to have a gun, and would have a "shoot out" with police if he was stopped.

After the suspect's phone was traced from North Street in Salem Street to the Tremont and Central streets intersection, the car was stopped in front of Bill & Bob's and officers made the two arrests.
