Tiny Holiday Village Took Big Effort

This pair at Brooksby Village in Peabody made a North Pole Village visitors won't soon forget.

PEABODY, MA – Joan Pappalardo began creating her Department 56 North Pole Village years ago with just a few pieces. Some houses were purchased, and some were gifts, but each year her village grew a little larger.

Now, 13 years later, she and her companion John Murphy, who both live at Brooksby Village retirement community in Peabody, will unveil their North Pole Village at 15 feet long and 6 and 8 feet deep.

"John has been putting this together since September", said Pappalardo. “We have collected more pieces over the years. It's even bigger and better than in years past!"

Their two-story North Pole Village includes two ski slopes, three skating rinks and many more intricate details.

"Two years ago we had over 1000 people visit us, and this year we expect even more" said Murphy. “People who live and work at Brooksby Village and their families are invited once again to enjoy the Village."
